Day 2 logging trucks
These guys come barreling by and it’s hard to hear them until they’re on you. They’ve been pretty polite so far but we worry about getting squeezed with someone coming the other way. Maybe 15 an hour for 2 hours until we turned off at Willow Creek.

No commentsDay 2 WPA projects?
Lots of stone road sides that look like they might have been WPA projects. And old bridges or parts of roadways that are no longer used. We wondered which senator the lumber companies might have convinced/bribed to fund the new roads.

No commentsDay 2 leaving Del Loma
On the road by 8:30. Cool but not cold. You can see it in the leaves as they’re starting to turn but aren’t very colorful because there’s not been a cold snap yet. We’re thinking about slimming our packs down and sending some stuff home by mail. Funny how what seemed like necessities have turned into dead weight.

No commentsDay 1 dinner
Carried about 5 pounds of food each from Weaverville. Pasta onion tomatoes and sauce. Borrowed some olive oil (pam) from someone cooking a much nicer dinner, asparagus and corn. Finished with apples and chocolate. Took a nap after we got here and ready for bed. Funny thing, I’m not 26 anymore.
